PATRICK EMERLING (LANCASTER MOTORPLEX) & CODY MCPHERSON (OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY) VISIT RACE OF CHAMPIONS MODIFIED SERIES VICTORY LANES THIS WEEKEND

Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Cody McPherson of St. Catherines, Ontario-Canada, each raced their way to victories in this weekend’s Race of Champions Series events.

Emerling, who started 3rd on Saturday night at the Lancaster (N.Y.) Motorplex, quickly worked his way to the lead and fended off Austin Beers on a late race restart to earn the victory in the 60-lap sprint race. Emerling earned $4,000 in traditional purse money and another $1,200 from Colton RV and the Colton family, in a salute to Bill Colton, Jr. (the Ol’ Boy), who the race is named after, for a total of $5,200.

“This was a good victory for everyone with our Advantage Motorsports Team,” stated Emerling from victory lane. “The car was really dialed in tonight and we were able to work our way to the lead quickly and set our own pace. It’s always great to win here at Lancaster.”

Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa., the defending series champion held on for second, while George Skora, III of Eden, N.Y., came home third. Tony Hanbury of Owego, N.Y., finished 4th, while Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y., who is the current series championship leader, rounded out the top-five.

“This is a good night for all of us,” stated McPherson. “We had a great car and we finally won here at Ohsweken. This place means a lot to us, there are a lot of memories that I have coming up here to race. It feels great to finally win here, I can’t thank everyone enough for helping us get here.”

Sharp finished 2nd with Bill Bleich of Port Robinson, Ontario coming home 3rd. Adam Leslie of Wainfleet, Ontario finished 4th and Jay Mallory of St. Catherines, Ontario rounded out the top five.
